We Have Our Work Cut Out For Us …

April 27, 2012

Karl Rove – know as “the Architect” for his skill in putting together electoral college victories for Bush 43 in 2000 and 2004, has analyzed all the states likely voting trends now that Romney has clinched the Republican victory (I know that some Ron Paul supporters would like to think otherwise, but this won’t be a brokered convention and Romney will have more than enough delegates to win a first-round ballot in Tampa).  I don’t know if his map will show up (below), but if not, follow the link at the bottom of this article.

But despite national registered-voter and likely-voter polls, the election isn’t decided by national popular vote (remember President Gore?), but by electoral college votes.  Which means each state counts.  And, if Rove’s current analysis is accurate, Romney will have to win all the Red States, and all the pink states, and maybe all the toss-up states, and he’ll still need to win at least one leaning-Obama state.  Since I live in a “leaning Obama” state that went for him in 2008, and elected Harry Reid in 2010 (though we did also elect a Hispanic Republican governor in 2010), I’ve got my work cut out for me.

And other active bloggers here on the 50-state Conservative Blogger network are also in swing states or leaning-Obama states – which means we need to all pull together to influence our own states to go for Romney.

Does this mean I like Romney?  No.  Does it mean I’m glad he’s our candidate?  No.  But it does mean that we are down to a choice – do we wholeheartedly support Romney and try to help him carry our states, or do we sit back in frustration and cop the attitude that “our guy” (or gal) didn’t get the nomination, so I’m going to stay home …?

Unless we want four more years of President Barack Hussain Obama and First Nanny Michelle Obama (and First Idiot Joe Biden), we’ve got to overcome our frustration, buckle on our battle armor, and go forth and slay that Liberal Dragon (metaphorically, of course), and do our best to help Romney win.  Then, successful, we’ll spend the next eight years holding President Romney’s feet to the fire, to ensure that he governs the way he’s (so far) campaigned – as a born-again conservative.
